Dr. Dennis “Bubba” Morgan, a longtime medical oncologist, has joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Cancer Institute faculty.
Morgan, arriving from Baptist Medical Group in Oxford, will be part of the interdisciplinary teams for thoracic (lung) and gastrointestinal cancers. He’ll also work with the hematologic malignancies team.
Morgan completed his medical oncology fellowship at UMMC in 1992.
“I’m looking forward to seeing patients and to teaching,” he said.
Helping his patients meet their goals is among his top priorities.
“I have learned it’s important to know your patients as people not as diagnoses,” said Morgan, assistant professor of Hematology and Oncology.
“People want more than one doctor monitoring them for this one medical decision that’s so important to them.”
Morgan is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Internal Medicine and the Mississippi Society of Oncology.
